We honor Chuka and Uchenna by turning remembrance into lasting opportunity—creating pathways for promising young people and communities to learn, rise and flourish. Our work begins with access to high-quality secondary education for academically bright students whose circumstances would otherwise place it beyond reach.
Chuka Obiora Okeke and Uchenna Ifeyinwa Okeke were brother and sister, close friends, and two vibrant young people whose lives drew others in.
Chuka was a natural leader—thoughtful, dependable, mature beyond his years and deeply respected by his peers. An avid footballer and Arsenal supporter, he was the friend people counted on, the mentor in the group and a true brother’s keeper who gave generously of himself to family and friends.
Uchenna was brilliant, joyful and full of light. An electrical and computer engineer, a woman of deep faith, a compassionate friend and an ambitious young professional, she brought beauty, laughter and energy wherever she went. She believed in striving for excellence and had a way of leaving a trail of sunshine behind her.
They died together on June 20, 2011. Their lives were far too short, but their impact was not. The Foundation carries forward the qualities they embodied—hope, excellence, leadership, compassion and the conviction that one life can lift many others.
Talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not. Many bright and hardworking children from low-income communities have not had the academic preparation or practical support needed to compete for admission to strong schools.
That is why our scholarship begins before a student ever enters the school gate. The Foundation Board and a dedicated program coordinator worked with school administrators, churches and community organizations to identify 20 promising students with genuine financial need, then invested four months in helping them build readiness for competitive entrance examinations.
The Foundation hired tutors in three core subjects, rented learning space at the town library, supported transportation, paid examination fees and helped families secure required identification and documentation. Seven students ultimately received admission offers, and four were selected as the inaugural scholars.
Each of the four will be fully sponsored at Deeper Life High School, Onitsha Campus—a deliberate choice to provide the quality of education, discipline and formation that can meaningfully alter the trajectory of a life.
Students are identified through trusted school, church and community nominations, with careful attention to both academic potential and genuine financial need.
The Foundation provides tutoring in core subjects, learning space, transportation support, entrance-exam fees and assistance securing the documentation students need to participate.
Each inaugural scholar will receive six years of tuition, boarding, books, uniforms and required school costs at Deeper Life High School, Onitsha Campus, together with academic monitoring, mentorship and enrichment. At approximately ₦2.5 million per student per year, this is a significant family commitment made to ensure access to an education with the potential to be truly life-changing.
The inaugural 2026 cohort has been selected, and no application cycle is currently open. Details of future nomination and preparation cycles will be shared as the Foundation’s capacity and partnerships grow.
“Fifteen years later, we still miss them deeply. This Foundation is one way we choose hope — trusting that even after unimaginable loss, love can still open doors and change the course of a life.”
